An Honest Conversation was shown at Freshly Scratched at the Battersea Arts Centre in October 2011.
For this work I invited strangers to take part in a one to one conversation about honesty over tea and cake. Embroidered messages about things I felt guilty or embarrassed about were gradually revealed as crockery was moved around to expose different parts of the tablecloth.
This led to some interesting and quite frank confessions, my favourite being the man who was really into shoplifting which he justified using Utilitarianism! Once the tea and cake had been served we washed up together as a way of cleansing our sins.
Here are a couple of photos from rehearsals, the night itself was a bit too hectic for documentation.
